Use case
A GPS lap timer that logs your ECU at the same time
Most lap timers tell you where the car was. The DashCAN Apex also records what the engine was doing: RPM, boost, temperatures, throttle and every other channel your standalone ECU broadcasts, on the same timeline as the lap.
On track
- Automatic start/finish detection, no transponder
- Live gap to best, predicted lap, sector splits and top speed on the phone
- Sprint and hillclimb timing as well as circuits
- A cloud track database by country: download a track with its start/finish, sectors and route in one tap, or draw your own
In the log
- 25 Hz GNSS, a 6-axis IMU and the CAN bus recorded together on one device
- Over two hours of onboard logging with no phone connected
- Live gauges, CAN logging with XLSX export and CAN switches in the same app
Afterwards, in DashCAN Cloud
- Lap times and sectors
- All laps, sector splits and personal bests, compared across sessions.
- Track map and charts
- Your line color-coded by speed, speed trace, time delta against a reference lap, and the G-G diagram from the IMU.
- ECU and CAN data
- Every recorded channel overlaid on the lap, so a slow sector and a boost drop show up together.
- Corner analysis and comparison
- Automatic corner detection with entry, apex and exit speeds, and any two laps side by side, even from different days.
Which ECUs
The app decodes the CAN broadcast of the ECUs on our list out of the box, and any other ECU that broadcasts custom CAN messages can be mapped by hand. ECUs that broadcast at 1 Mbit/s need the Apex, the only interface with an adjustable CAN bit rate.
Ignitron ECU, ECU Master EMU, ECU Master EMU PRO, Emtron, Haltech, Hondata, MaxxECU, MegaSquirt, MoTeC, rusEFI, Speeduino, Syvecs, VEMS.
Emtron, Haltech, MoTeC, Syvecs and VEMS broadcast at 1 Mbit/s and need the Apex.
Lap time and engine data, one log, no lining up afterwards.
Closed-course use only. DashCAN products are intended solely for closed-course competition and motorsport use and are not type-approved or certified for use on public roads. Use them lawfully and safely, and do not operate the app while driving. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
