Cookie Policy

How we use cookies and browser local storage on dashcan.eu — and how we keep non-essential cookies switched off until you say yes.

What we use, and how we gate it

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. We also use your browser's local storage, which works in a similar way but is never sent automatically to a server. We use both for two very different reasons: to make the site work (signing you in, remembering your cart) and, only with your permission, to understand how the site is used.

We hard-gate every non-essential cookie. This means Google Analytics is not loaded at all until you click Accept in our cookie banner. No analytics cookie is written, and no analytics script is downloaded, while your choice is "reject" or undecided. Strictly necessary cookies are always on because the site cannot function without them — they do not require consent under the ePrivacy rules.

Strictly necessary (always on, no consent needed)

These first-party items are required to deliver the service you explicitly request — for example, keeping you signed in. They cannot be switched off.

In addition, two things are stored in your browser's localStorage (first-party), not in cookies:

  • Your shopping cart contents
  • Your cookie choice (so we remember whether you accepted or rejected)

Analytics (only after you click Accept)

These cookies help us measure how the site is used so we can improve it. They are set only once you accept in the banner, and never before.

Analytics data may be processed by Google in the USA under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. For details on how this data is handled, see our Privacy Notice.

Third-party cookies at checkout

When you pay, checkout is handled on Stripe's hosted page at checkout.stripe.com. Stripe sets its own cookies there to process your payment and prevent fraud. Those cookies are set by Stripe on its own domain and are governed by Stripe's policies, not ours.

Managing your consent

When you first visit, our banner lets you accept or reject non-essential (analytics) cookies. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time:

  • Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page to reopen your preferences.
  • Rejecting or withdrawing consent stops analytics cookies and does not affect how the site functions — sign-in, your cart and checkout all keep working.
  • You can also clear cookies and site data directly in your browser settings at any time.

Who is responsible & contact

The data controller for the cookies set by this site is [LEGAL ENTITY — see Impressum]. If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy or your choices, contact us at:
