Select your DashCAN product below to see the matching step-by-step setup guide for your Ignitron ECU.
To set up the device, connect the following four wires from the DashCAN Apex harness:
Connect the CAN High and CAN Low wires to leg 60 (CANH) and leg 58 (CANL) of the Ignitron ECU.
Important! To ensure signal integrity, the CANH and CANL wires must be routed as a twisted pair, and the total wire length should not exceed 1.5 meters.
For further help on wiring, please visit the Technical Help page.
The DashCAN Apex unit contains a built-in GPS module and an IMU (inertial measurement unit). Where you mount the device directly affects the quality of the GPS and motion data, so take a moment to find a good spot.
Preferred orientation: mount the device flat and level. Any fixed mounting angle is acceptable, as the app can compensate, but keeping it level gives the best out-of-the-box result.
Download the 2 files from the "Downloads" section below and open the "Ignitron ECU" Windows program. Connect your laptop to the ECU.
Make sure your ECU has the V1.25 Firmware or newer!
Open the "CAN communication" menu on the left, then tick the "Send custom CAN messages" and "Receive custom CAN messages" options. Two new menu items should appear in the left menu column with the same names.
Open the menu item "Send custom CAN messages" and click on the "Import" button. Find the appropriate file and import it. Repeat this in the "Receive custom CAN messages" menu.
After installing the app, launch it and then approve all the permission requests and turn on Bluetooth, otherwise the app will not work properly!
If everything is done correctly the app will automatically connect to the DashCAN interface. You're now ready to monitor your vehicle's data in real-time!
